ABOUT US
Tami working with a group class
At American Dog School, I believe NO DOG IS UNTRAINABLE.
I believe that every dog should be well trained.
The decision to train an animal can be one of the best decisions you ever make regarding your pet. I believe that whether you train your dog or not, your dog will learn habits from you and your family. Obedience training ensures that your animal develops the kind of behaviors that will allow your dog and your family to enjoy a healthy, loving, positive bond.
I will help you train your dog to be responsive to you, ensuring that you can direct and control him or her at all times.
I offer a FREE introductory class any day of the week so your family and your dog can come see what American Dog School has to offer.

Meet Tami Carrasco
Tami Carrasco personally oversees the training of every dog that comes through American Dog School. Her goal is simple — help each dog reach its highest potential while making the training process rewarding and enjoyable for both dog and owner.
Tami has owned American Dog School since 1992. Her background includes experience with West Hampden Training Stables, Animal Rescue and Adoption Society, Wagon Wheel Ranch, and Colorado Dog Academy. In 1990, she began working with the American School of Dog Training, which she proudly purchased in 1992 and has continued to grow into one of Northern Colorado’s most recognized training programs.
Under Tami’s leadership, American Dog School has been voted Best of Fort Collins – Dog Training eleven times (2009–2014 and 2020–2024). The school has also been recognized as a LocalBest Winner for Pet Training in 2019 and 2021, and named a Nextdoor Favorite in 2023 and 2024 — reflecting decades of consistent community trust and proven results.
Tami has been a certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator since 1994 and has earned — and helped her students earn — numerous titles including Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX), Schutzhund titles, and Conformation Championships in both UKC and AKC.
Her training experience spans a wide range of disciplines, including service dogs, Colorado Disc Dogs, Dock Dogs, tracking dogs, and 4-H youth obedience competition. She also actively trains her own dogs, with one earning a “Puppy Division” win in his first Bird Dog Trial for the BDC. Tami has even won a cast in UKC Coon Hunts with her Redbone Coonhounds — a testament to her hands-on expertise across working and performance dog sports.
For over three decades, Tami has combined experience, passion, and proven methods to help dogs and their owners succeed.
